Knitting Collection

Knitting is a method by which yarn is manipulated to create a textile (or fabric).

Knitting may be done by hand or by machine.

Knitting creates stitches - loops of yarn in a row, either flat of in the round.

Depending on how the loops are connected into each other, the outlook will vary in many different ways.

Also differences in yarn, needle size, and stitch type allow for a variety of knitted fabrics

with much different outcome of the look from each other.

The exact origins of knitting are unknown, but the earliest known is the cotton socks found in Egyptian pyramids.

The word, knitting is derived from knot, ultimately from the Old English 'cnyttan', to knot.

The first commercial knitting guilds appear in Western Europe in the early 15th century,

the business became quite prosperous with the invention of the knitting machine.

Hand knitting became a popular leisure activities among the wealthy.

History books of the craft got published by few scholars, even by Catholic priest.

Most of all, according to the recent studies, hand knitting, along with other forms of needlework,

provide several significant health benefits.

It includes management of stress, pain and depression, which in turn strengthens the body's immune system,

also reduces the risk of developing Alzheimer's and dementia.

Thus, we should all enjoy knitting more often!
